With vast information at a student’s fingertips and keyboards, it has never been more important to teach history and social science with an emphasis on skills and perspectives. Giving space for students to question, hypothesize, analyze, and critically problem-solve in small groups and independently is as important in the history/social science classroom as it has always been in the science lab. Researching the elements of the human experience that have shaped us and connected us through discovery, conflict, purpose, and advancement defines the work of historians. HISTORY DEPARTMENT LEAD
Debbie Ayers’ teaching career spans almost three decades and she has been at Flint Hill School for the last 17 years where she has taught History and Social Science courses. She has also held the positions of Academic Dean and Assistant Upper School Director.
