SKILLS, STANDARDS & COMPETENCIES
FOR CORE ACADEMICS, CO-CURRICULARS AND PD
OESIS Portfolium is a Four Platform Solution The OESIS Portfolium solution is an e-portfolio, a curriculum map, a mastery grade book with courses and pathway functionality, and badging platform all rolled into one system. It puts the student (and parent for under 13) in full control of data and privacy. We provide an assessment bridge for the student's e-Portfolio to converse with his/her school so that the teachers can formulate requirements for student performance in the form of courses, milestones and pathways. Submitted work by students in the form of any digital artifact syncs so it can be reviewed, recognized and rewarded with badges or credits. This is not just for academic coursework but for any skill, co-curricular or extra-curricular. The whole child can now be treated and presented as a rich tapestry of skills not simply a thin transcript or diploma. |
Portfolium Use Cases for the OESIS Network
For schools doing PBL, an e-portfolio and pathway solution is important: K-6. As a tool that Teachers use primarily to manage evidence of growth of their students. Particularly, in the earlier grades where schools are careful with student use of new platforms, schools have been using Portfolium to map and capture evidence of student learning in a portfolio controlled primarily by the teachers/parents, but with walled garden access for students. Portfolium holds all the standards and work products, and it is used at regular intervals during the school year like during parent conferences, end of year placements and for teacher recommendations. There is keen member school interest at the K-6 level among teachers. Middle School. Some of our member schools are starting to use Portfolium for more student-driven uses such as service learning pathways and other co-curricular uses. Other uses include for Advisory content and other such pathways in extra-curriculars from sports to robotics, the arts or internships. High School. For schools going down the standards-based or competency route, this provides real opportunities for teachers to link project-based assignments in a course to a portfolio. It also allows co-curricular streams that are outside of traditional discipline silos to manage student opportunities together. It allows students to build co-curricular evidence important to burnish their College profiles. |
